St John the Baptist Church – Questionnaire Update May 2021

Approximately 150 flyers were hand delivered to properties in Allington to determine how open St John the Baptist church should be opened to allow access by members of the parish and interested visitors. A questionnaire was distributed to all properties in the parish to seek residents’ opinion on the best option. The options for opening the church were:

1. Keep the past system of opening by prior request and with open access for special events; about 3-4 times throughout the year.

2. As No 1 with the church additionally being open one weekend a month 10-16:00hrs (10-15:00hrs in winter).

3. Suggestions for opening.

Of the 150 flyers delivered to properties in Allington, the results were as follows:

• 47 replies were received

• 35 were in favour of option 1

• 9 were in favour of option 2

• 2 were in favour of both option 1 and option 2

• 1 abstained as they would have no need to use the church

By a large margin, the past arrangements for opening were voted to be continue:
• Keep the past system of opening by prior request and with open access for special events; 3-4 times throughout the year.
